Membership of AIAL signifies your commitment to the highest standards within the further education, vocational teaching and learning profession. Membership is open to individuals and organizations who seek to demonstrate excellence and a commitment to professionalism.
Individual Membership
We at the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning recognize that the world of learning and human resource development is becoming increasingly more complex. By joining the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning, you demonstrate your commitment to excellence in training, assessment and continuous professional development. Your membership will gain you access to exclusive content, research, webinars, events, discounts and much more. Whether you are new to vocational teaching, further education or training, or you are an advanced practitioner and you wish to keep in touch with the learning and development sector, the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning membership grades are designed to reflect the diverse nature of our sector.
When considering your Membership application the Membership Admissions Panel of the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning will assess your membership application against the following criteria:
Expertise
- Expertise relates to; skill, knowledge, proficiency, and capability.
Experience
- Experience relates to the length of time and areas of involvement.
Eminence
- Eminence relates to status, prominence or reputation (Training Practitioner, Training Manager, Director of Learning, etc).
In this way the AIAL Institute’s level of membership more closely reflects the individual’s contribution to the profession. AIAL membership grade criteria are designed to include the diversity of teaching and training roles found across the further education and skills sector.
Membership of AIAL, with the appropriate designatory letters after your name, as a digital badge, is a demonstration to others of your professional status, and will serve as an enduring mark of achievement and credibility.

Fellow (FAIAL)
A Fellow of the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning is the most senior grade available without an invitation, and is for those who are consistently demonstrating their ability to expertly carry out their professional roles and duties within the sector.

Licentiate Fellow (LicFAIAL)
A Licentiate Fellow of the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning is a professional at the Senior level within the learning and development profession. Vastly experienced within the further education, vocational education and training sector, with Strategic involvement or qualified to Masters Degree Level, or equivalent.

Graduate Member (GMAIAL)
A Graduate Member of the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning is a vocational education and training professional with a working history of publications, shared writing and reporting on vocational outcomes.

Member (MAIAL)
A Member of the ASEAN Institute of Applied learning is a learning and development professional with a growing portfolio of sector knowledge and skills focused on developing new skills/insights.

Affiliate Member (AMAIAL)
An Affiliate Member of the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning is designed for those who are just starting out in their career and are looking for support and advice from others within the learning and development profession.

Honorary Fellow
Honorary Fellow is the highest grade attainable and is by invitation only from the ASEAN Institute of Applied Learning Membership Admissions Panel.
